ICT in the Leisure Centre :: ICT System Essays

ICT in the Leisure Centre The current ICT facilities used in the leisure centre at the moment be 1 standalone 486 PC in the reception theatre. It does not have a put outer connected to it, and in that respect is an out of date word processing package on the machine, it is only r arly used by Andy Cawson who is head receptionist. The computer also has other bundle on the computer, but Andy is not sure how to work it. The Admin office has two Pentium 100 PCs that share a jet ink printer. One of the computers in the admin area holds personal details. There is word processing software installed on the computer it is regularly used. In the bar, restaurant and shop there are a public figure of points of sales terminals that are used within the leisure centre. In the finance department, Martin Dolphin the finance officer uses his own laptop, he records financial data on the laptop and also produces financial documents. He uses is own laptop, because he is unable to work on the 386 PC that is in his office. He is also unable to print from his laptop and PC 386 because there is no printer, if he wants to produce any print outs he has to go to Admin. In the leisure centre there are telephones that are used to communicate, but it is mainly manual systems that are used to run the leisure centre. Problems with the existing ICT system within the leisure centre are the scurvy standard of ICT equipment, most work is done manually and when the work is done using the computers work is made more difficult than it should be, For example in reception there is no printer connected in there so the receptionist have to go else where to get work printed off. In addition, due to the poor ICT within the leisure centre it is causing problems such as Information has been lost which leads to numerous customer complaints, because sporting facilities are being double book etc.

Its surface can change from calm and mirror like to wild and treacherous. Most waves at sea are caused by wind. The waves created the gales that blow during a tropical cyclone are 46ft and higher. The largest wave known to have been caused by the wind was 112ft high. Waves can also be created by volcanic eruptions. These waves are known at tsunamis. They are wide columns of body of water that reach down to the sea floor and can travel for enormous distances, at the speed of a jet plane. Colliding currents can also change the surface of the ocean. When the tide turns, the opposing currents meet and may create a whirlpool.      naval currents are massive bodies of water that travel long distances around the world. Wind is the major force that creates currents. There are seven main ocean currents that move in large, circular streams at a walking pace. In the Northern Hemisphere currents move in a clockwise direction in the southern Hemisphere they are counterclockwise. Warm or cold water currents are carried by winds along the shorelines. This affects the climate of the various continents on the way. The current that carries warm water from the Caribbean Sea, up the east coast of the United Stated and then to the west coasts of Britain and Northern Europe is called the Gulf Stream. These areas would be much colder without the Gulf Stream. The "pull" of the moonlight and the sun also affect the ocean by causing the tides.

Curleys Wife: Miss Dynamite or lonely victim? Essay

Throughout the book Steinbeck changes Curleys wife in different ways. He makes the reader bump nuisance, sympathy, annoyance and love for Curleys wife. These different interpretations create an unusual expression for this character. It is difficult to pinpoint one particular character that she is, as our opinions change regularly in the book. Since the beginning of the book Curleys wife has come across very confident, lustful and bold. She puts on a confident, troubling image to start exactly as the book progresses she slowly reveals the lonely, apprehensive woman she reall(a)y is.This image gets her in to a lot of trouble and makes her come across bad. She isnt care by the farm- puzzle outers, and they treat her very badly. At the start of the book George touch ons to her as Jesus, what a tramp and no piece of jail bait worse than her, these comments confront how she comes across to the new characters and how little respect she has on the farm. The hierarchy on the farm is one of the main problems through the book. It causes jealously, rivalry and trouble. Curleys wife posture on the farm is right at the bottom.I feel that end-to-end the book shes always thriving to reach some sort of positioning or level within the community on the farm. I think this because in the book when she asks what happened to Curleys hand and they dont tell her she calls them all names, Standin here talking to a bunch of bindle stiffs -a nigger an a dum-dum and a lousy ol sheep. This shows Curleys wife trying to grasp some sort of government agency by humiliating the other characters. By calling them names she feels almost superior and special, which is what she always wants.Women are treated with very little respect and were never equal to men in this time. She belongs to Curley like an object or a possession. This is when her lonely victim side of her shines through because she is treated so badly we feel sympathy and rue for her. A good example to show how women are treated in this day is by her name. In the book we always refer to her as Curleys wife and never know her actual name that shows how controlling and male-dominated the farm is towards women.At the point in the book where she dies our troubling/ attention-seeking hatred towards Curleys wife disappears as a sympathetic and sad feeling takes its place. When she tries to break free of Lennie and squirms in his arms we feel a sudden sadness for her, although some people would say that she brought it on herself through her attention seeking ways, others would feel sympathetic. Steinbeck changes the image very well in this chapter, as we start to interrogative sentence our previous opinions on Curleys wife.In the chapter it says, And the meanness and the plannings and the discontent and the ache for attention were all gone from her pose. She was very pretty and simple, and her face was sweet and young. This extract reveals a completely different side to Curleys wife and makes us think m ore deeply about our attitude towards her throughout the book. It quotes all the reasons we used to hate Curleys wife in the past and compare it with her now, laying peacefully on the hay.Steinbeck changes Curleys wife character a lot, which makes it hard to answer whether she is Miss Dynamite or a lonely victim. I think that Steinbecks intentions were to make us feel sympathetic towards her entirely also to have a hidden hatred for her previous attention-seeking character. In conclusion, I think that this question of whether Curleys wife is Miss Dynamite or a lonely victim cannot be answered. Steinbeck changes the character too much throughout the book so that you can never pinpoint a on-key opinion.Only till the end do you realise a true sense of loneliness and sympathy, but while she was alive she was an annoying/ troubling character, which entrust always linger in our minds when we try to understand her image. It is very good if a child watches only educational cartoons, but there are a lot of cartoons which fork out bad influences on children. However, nowadays children become addicted to watching cartoons and, as a result, there are a lot of debates about whether children are affected by cartoons more positively or negatively. Verbal communication is the method used by the vast majority of people to communicate.People use it to have their needs met, to indicate their likes and dislikes, to communicate information, to refute something, to socialize, as well as to establish and maintain relationships. The ability to communicate is the basis of social and emotional well-being. Children who have difficulty communicating very much go on to develop behavioral problems, mainly due to their frustration at not being able to express their needs, participate in social exchange and achieve in education. These children do not grow out of their difficulties as education progresses. However, there are a lot of educational cartoons on television which can give moral lessons and entertainment to children. Educational cartoon characters help children become comfortable to express their feelings. Children learn so many new things. When a child begins to watch educational cartoons he finds out a lot of new things before going to school. While watching cartoons, children try to recall everything that their favorite character says. They try to speak in the same manner. After that they can tell it to other people. These mechanisms determine what is allowed and what is not right in society and what is wrong. Foucault argued that since the 18th century, the deviation began to violate the law (courts could, not so long ago, to convict homosexuals or partners who betrayed their spouse).By, new sexual settings, to different sexual behaviors (that were always there but never received cultural significance) changed the face of society. This means social defini tion creates the identity. The new terms gay, lesbian and straight, are the result of modern discourse, which created categorization and sub-categories of conversation. The term homosexuality has two interpretations, one, sexual preference. Second meaning is social labeling. This labeling is the concept of the rule of the person which identifies himself or herself, as gay. That is, each character turns shades of defining sexual identity.Experts (such as pedagogues, psychologists and psychiatrists), can be social power, which determine the lawful content normal and identify the pathological contents of a person. Their power, check to Foucault, is due to their proximity to the dominant group in society, the bourgeoisie and the political elite. Extreme conclusion is that gender regime serves the interests of those groups, and that by apply the institutions of marriage and heterosexuality. (Zaken) Conclusion Society is the cause of sexual identity and what makes the difference betwe en sexual orientation, and how we identify who we are A woman or a man.But there is change occurring and there could be more change as soon as we, as a society start unlabeling and just lifespan with all types of sexual orientation, genders, and labels that are not labeled. This is all through a social process, of course. A note, it is extremely crucial to know the difference between sex and gender, because then we are giving legitimacy to habitual belief, commemorating the situation in which women are subject to male social order. This follows the historical tradition of the patriarchal family and society.This approach considers the biological differences between the sexes, as the distribution of the different roles. In other words, gender dissimilarity is prevailing social perceptions. Ultimately, the goal is to get into a relationship of equality between men and women in society, there would be no more women who are discriminated against on the basis of sex and / or gender. Fo r, as de Beauvoir said, man and woman, depend on each other for sex and continuity of human society.
